This is a piece that I made a few months ago, and after the first bisque firing, let it sit on the shelf for much longer than usual. I couldn’t decide how to glaze it. My final choice was matte black, and I love how it turned out.
This is made from slabs of clay rather than throwing it on the pottery wheel. I made it as one closed piece, then cut a horizontal line to turn it into a bottom and a top, and added a knob at the top. The lines ending in dots on the sides are created with clay slip – clay that’s not thick enough to handle with hands and fingers, but thin enough to drizzle or squirt.
It’ll be a great treasure box!
I wonder what could be stored in here. All types of goodies. I love the blue contrasted over the black glaze.
