For the past several weeks, I’ve been working on a collaborative piece with my son, Peter Imsland Evans. Working with someone else on an artwork has been a long-held wish for me, so I was delighted that my son agreed to this project! It’s drawn on medium-weight drawing paper, and media includes pencil, colored pencil, watercolor, chalk pastel, ink, and felt tip pen. In all, we traded it off between each other five times.
Combining our drawing styles is interesting, and it’s fun to play off of what the other person creates. Our only rules are 1) nothing is precious and it’s okay to draw over or erase the other person’s work, and 2) each person has one week to complete their turn.
The final piece turned out very busy and psychedelic looking. Peter’s in line to start the next collaborative piece, and I’m psyched to work on that! Here are photos of each step. Can you guess when I worked on it?

Powerful colors!
