Trying my hand at slip trailing lately. “Slip” is watered-down clay, and can be used in a variety of ways. In this case, it’s watered down, yet thick enough to hold a “line” when I “trail” that line on the surface of a pot. It’s kinda like cake decorating! I also used a thinner black slip to paint the bottom foot of each vase. These two are ready for their first firing. (The little pink papers folded over their tops provide the studio with my name and the weight of each piece.) After that first “bisque” firing, I’ll probably color the slip-trailed lines with underglaze, then dip each vase in glaze. Final pieces to come!
